Karoo Feels is perfectly situated on the outskirts of town in a tranquil bird filled garden. Just far enough to be a little quieter but still within walking distance of the local Spar and 20 minute walk or quick drive from the town centre. There you will find quaint shops and galleries to browse as well as the famous Prince Albert Museum.
The beautiful Swartberg mountains surround the town and can be seen from the garden covered in snow in the winter.
Hot summer nights provide the ideal opportunity to take advantage of the enclosed patio and pool for a casual supper under the plentiful stars.
The garden during the day is beautiful with birdlife aplenty and the occasional visit from a tortoise or two who pop in from the Leiwater stream which runs through the property.
The dramatic and breathtaking Swartberg pass is just 20 minutes drive away and is definitely worth a visit. If not to drive or cycle through then just to stop off at one of the pools for a dip or just to sit and take in the feels with something cold to drink. Meiringspoort waterfall is a pleasant 53km drive and worth exploring on the way to De Rust or Oudtshoorn. All along the Meiringspoort pass there are places to stop with braai and spotless ablution facilities if you wanted to stay longer and absorb the beauty of this spectacular pass. Nearby Oudtshoorn provides many opportunities for adventure including the Cango Caves, Ostrich Show Farms and the delightful Wilgewandel Holiday Farm with its wonderful water slides and other fun activities.
Karoo Feels cottage is situated in the top end of the large garden, adjacent to the pool and patio. The patio has everything needed for outdoor cooking including a basin for your convenience. Braai, Weber and braai implements are available for use and there is always plenty of wood and charcoal available.
The cottage has two bedrooms - both with a private bathroom - as well as a common area consisting of a comfortable lounge and kitchenette.
The bedrooms are airy and spacious with heating and air conditioning in both. There is a Double and Queen bed as well as a sleeper couch for the kiddies if required. Inter-leading doors to the common lounge/kitchenette area can be locked for privacy if needed.
The lounge has music, books and games as well as limited artistic options (paint/easel/flower press) for the more creative guest.
The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle as well as cutlery and crockery. Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk are replenished daily and there is usually some locally sourced delicious treat (such as biscuits or rusks) provided as well.
Your hosts, husband and wife Martin and Jill Schofield, are always available should you need any help and look forward to giving you the Karoo feels real soon!
