The philosophy at Enjo Nature Farm is a simple one: Escape, breathe, relax and chill. Not a difficult undertaking when the surrounding scenery leaves your mouth hanging open at every turn.

From mountain peaks to natural springs, fynbos galore to night skies dripping with stars, if your soul's gone a-missing, you'll track it down at Enjo.

The farm lies way off the Cederberg's well-stomped trail. Tucked away up the gorgeous Biedouw Valley, 65km from Clanwilliam, it's a nature lovers delight, with hiking trails, mountain bike routes, gurgling rivers and farm dams with sun bathing decks and paddle skis.

For the kids? Plenty to exhaust them here. Besides the above, they can saddle up and ride the pony in the ring or grab a bottle and help feed the lambs during lambing season.

Let's move onto Enjo's extensive platter of ACCOMMODATION: a homely mix of rustic white-washed thatch abodes and a campsite.

Kicking off with Lazy Leopard House, this spacious cottage is the largest member of the gang and sleeps six. Best suited to a family, the cottage is set in a glade of trees along the river bank. There are two downstairs bedrooms (with a Queen and King) and a third loft ROOM with two SINGLES and accessible via a ladder.

The kitchen is fully equipped and open-plan to a dining area with indoor fireplace. Outside you have a braai area and stoep with mountain views.

Further along the river bank are the privately appointed Enjo and Oak - quaint open-plan cottages that sleep four apiece. In both you'll find either a Queen (Enjo) or King (Oak) downstairs, and two singles in the loft. A small kitchenette, indoor fireplace, outside braai area with mountain views, are among the features here.

The Cabin is a small cottage with a bathroom and inside fireplace and an outside kitchenette under the thatch roof. It does sleep up to three people with a double bed downstairs and a single mattress on a small loft under the thatch roof reachable by ladder. For the cold winter evenings the Cabin has weather blinds to convert the outside kitchen into a cozy area.

The Annex - best suited to couples and attached to the historic main farmhouse, but with own private entrance. The unit is equipped with king-size bed, en suite bathroom and kitchenette with kettle, toaster and bar fridge. Stepping out, a stoep and braai area with comfy couches is where you're likely find yourself late into the night.

For solitude seekers we recommend Lonely Planet Cottage - hidden away in the spectacular Oskloof and only accessible via a jeep track (a five-minute drive from the main homestead). Lonely Planet comes sans Eskom - instead you'll enjoy solar heating and lighting, and cooking by gas. The cottage has a King bed downstairs, with two singles in the loft. Outside there's a braai area and natural stone jacuzzi - were you'll definitely be wallowing in the baking summer months.

Whew, there's still more. Adamant on finding use for that tent you bought all those years ago? Good, because Enjo has three private campsites with hot a communal shower and electricity at each.

Can't be bothered with cooking? No prob, you can request dinner or breakfast well in advance from the main house, where you'll also find a small shop selling basic supplies. Trust us, you don't want to be driving to Clanwilliam for that forgotten milk...

The guest feedback for Enjo sings nothing but praise, " We loved our stay at Enjo Nature Farm and so will anybody else who is craving that simple, quiet connection with nature," says an adventurer from Somerset West.

"Incredible... and I mean incredible beauty is all around you!" crows another.

All said and done, if you're searching for soul, we'd say look no further than Enjo Nature Farm.
