Watch the birds on the river from your bed; explore the wetlands by canoe; relax in a hammock at the pool or swim at one of Plettenberg Bay's nearby beaches. Enjoy traditional country breakfasts & hospitality at this award-winning, four-star guest house.

Each of the five en suite rooms has its own entrance, patio, TV, bar fridge and barbecue facilities. The view from all the rooms is of the garden & river. Every room is heated and the guest lounge and breakfast room also have cosy fireplaces.

The barbecues are easy to move around and cooking your dinner under the stars next to the river is a very special holiday experience: think candles, good wine, great company - with the gleam of water and the night sounds of Africa as an accompaniment.

There’s a sleeper couch in each room, for one extra guest, at half price. However if you’re travelling with two children & feel that they could share the sleeper couch, the second child stays free. Children over seven years are welcome to stay. The unfenced pool and river frontage make it potentially less safe for younger children.

Ten minutes away from Bitou River Lodge is the town of Plettenberg Bay, with its wonderful beaches, its good shops & great restaurants. There are two golf courses if you’re a golfer; a game farm if you’d like to see wild animals; and hiking & mountain-biking trails – bring your boots or bike!

A little further afield at The Crags you can taste acclaimed local wines; get up close and personal with elephants, wild cats, snakes, monkeys and birds; go horse-riding; buy a knee rug from the mohair mill shop - and even watch a chukka of polo!

Things to see and do:

Plett offers the visitor a huge variety of things to do from wildlife activites to extreme sports and adventure, hiking or simply lazing on the beach. There’s something for everyone!
