a new, owner designed, built and managed guesthouse situated in the quiet
residential part of St.Lucia village. The main centre of town is within walking
distance and offers several restaurants, curio shops, beach and fishing shops as
well as supermarkets, a fruit and craft market and the hustle and bustle of a
small tourist town. St.Lucia is surrounded by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park,
South Africa's first natural World Heritage Site, the warm waters of the Indian
Ocean and the St.Lucia Estuary.
Situated a 2.5 Hrs. drive North of Durban, on the Elephant Coast, our Bed &
Breakfast is ideally positioned to be your base from which to explore this

Afrikhaya offers a unique stylish Afro-contemporary home set in a tropical
garden where Monkeys, Squirrels, Mongoose and Hornbills are just a few of the
Afrikhaya offers 5 guestrooms in total:
2 Chalet styled rooms sleeping a maximum of 3 pax each.
1 Standard double room ( 4) , 1 Queen double room and 1 Superior Double
All guestrooms have a private entrance with terrace or patio and en suite
open plan bathroom with spacious walk in rain shower only.
The Superior room ( 5) is very private and is situated in the back garden,
separate from the main house and has a luxurious full bathroom.
The rooms are elegantly furnished
with comfortable XL Boxspring beds, cooling and heating air-conditioner, ceiling
fan, bar-fridge, wall safe, hairdryer and coffee and tea making facilities. The
cozy lounge with satellite television and the dining area are overlooking a
sparkling pool, a delicious healthy breakfast can be enjoyed inside or on our
Afrikhaya is a small B&B establishment and we don’t offer self- catering facilities on the premises.
Picnic areas are situated along the beaches and within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park; along the main street of town which is walking distance from us ( be careful, hippos at night), visitors have a choice because there are plenty restaurants such as John Dory’s, an Italian and Ocean Basket, to name a few.

A visit to the world renowned Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, situated 50 kms.
from St.Lucia and home to the Big 5, is a short drive away and we gladly assist
or organize a safari for you.
Other activities we consider "not to be missed" are a boat cruise on Lake
St.Lucia to look for hippos and crocodiles, a night drive in the Wetland Park,
an exploration of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and snorkeling at Cape Vidal
A variety of Zulu cultural tours are also available with visits to a rural area
or a cultural village.
This area is Birders Paradise and an early morning walk or kayaking on the lake
is ideal to spot that rare one that's still missing on your list.
Numerous trails meander through the Park which can be explored on foot or
Spectacular are the seasonable boat based Whale Watching ( May - November) and
Turtle Tours ( December -March) are also a special and memorable experience.
Tennis and golf can be enjoyed at the Monzi Golf course.
