2 Catalina Bay
Our unit No.2 is on the ground floor at the end of the complex. There is a
lovely expanse of lawn in front of our patio and our unit is the closest one to
the outside shower and the passage to the beach gate. NB: Catalina Bay is right
on the beach - no railway lines or roads to cross!!
The unit consists of three bedrooms made up as follows:- A main bedroom with a king-size double bed with a shower-en-suite. Two other bedrooms each with two beds in (which can be pushed together to make a double bed). These bedrooms share a family bathroom with full bath with shower in bath and toilet.
The rest of the unit is open plan kitchen, dining area, and lounge, leading onto the patio in the front with sliding doors.
The unit is fully equipped for self-catering. The only item you need to take is towels for swimming and bathing. We have a dishwasher and a washing machine in the kitchen.
We have a carport which is right near our front door - no steps in this unit so suitable for prams, wheelchairs etc.
Suggestions on what you can do in the area:
Swimming Pool - the complex has a lovely clean pool which overlooks the breakers on the opposite side to our unit.
The Beach & Jolly Grubber - the passage to the beach is right in front of our unit through the trees. The main beach is within easy walking distance to the right. There are shark nets, lifeguards etc. Behind the beach (over the railway line) is a Pub/Restaurant called "The Jolly Grubber" - Food very reasonable. This place also has a lovely Putt Putt course and a Super Tube which is great fun for kids (and adults!)
If you prefer gentle calm rock pools then when you come out the Catalina beach gate walk left. You will pass lots of big pieces of Driftwood, rock pools etc and eventually (15 min walk) you will come to a Tidal pool which is great.
Shops - There is a big Spar store across the railway line - Bottle Store, KFC, Blockbusters, Chemist, Laundry etc
Port Shepstone and Shelley Beach are further down the coast if more "intense" shopping is required.
Golf - loads of golf courses in the area. Closest ones being Port Shepstone Country Club (South) and Selbourne Country Club (North) about 20 mins away.
Oribi Gorge - is also a nice day trip. They have a "big swing" there.
- parking all onsite
