Wyford Farm is situated in a pretty mountainous area off Van Reenen Pass (N3)
and has a rich recorded history being built in the 1870's as a Trading Store on
the route between Johannesburg and Durban. It is now a small working farm with
beef cattle, pigs, sheep and horses which visitors may interact with. We are
approximately 40 km from either Ladysmith or Harrismith and day trips are
possible to Battlefield sites and Northern Berg resorts.
We offer comfortable accommodation in 4 separate and private self catering units
and a caravan which each have their own braai area and garden and are serviced
daily. Pets can usually be accommodated on request.
Poplar Cottage (Unit type A) looks on to a dam and has a fenced garden.
It has one bedroom with a double bed and en suite shower bathroom. There is a
second bedroom with 2 single beds and a second bathroom with bath. Upstairs in
the loft there are 2 single beds and a double sleeper couch. The living area is
large and incorporates the well equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with a
fireplace. There is a covered braai area in the garden and a car port. There is
a television set and a satellite dish but bring your own de coder and card
Aloe Cottage (Unit type B) sleeps 5 and has a Queen bed and a single bed
in the large loft and 2 single beds in the downstairs bedroom. There is a shower
bathroom and the living area has a fireplace and well equipped kitchen, dining
and lounge area. The spacious verandah has a stunning view of the mountains and
there is a covered braai in the fenced garden which also has a car port. There
is a television set with satellite dish but bring own decoder and card.
The Garden Cottage (Unit type C) is a small cozy unit in an enclosed
garden. It is a bed sitter type of unit with
a double bed and a single bed in the same room with a sitting nook with a
fireplace and television at one side and a kitchen at the other. The separate
bathroom has a bath. There is a portable braai in the garden and a car port plus
a satellite dish but bring own decoder and card.
The Old Trading Store (Unit type D) has 3 bedrooms, one has a double bed
and an en suite bathroom with bath, one has 2 single beds with en suite bathroom
with bath and shower and the third has a Queen bed and a single bed and is next
to a shower bathroom. Extra beds can be made up in the very large living area
which has a fireplace, lounge suite and large dining table. There is a
television with stations SABC 1, 2, 3 and ETV. The well equipped
kitchen is separate and the spacious verandah has a stunning view of the
mountains. On the verandah is a day bed and there is a covered braai in the
garden where there is a car port
Jacaranda Cottage (Unit type E) is a small bed sitter cottage with a
double bed and a single in the main room with a fireplace in one corner, sitting
area and dining table. There is a small kitchen equipped with microwave, mini
stove, fridge, kettle, toaster etc. It overlooks a farm dam and has a braai area
in the garden. The separate bathroom has a shower.
4 Sleeper caravan with side tent This is situated in a private section of
the garden and has electric lights, fridge and microwave and a gas 2 plate stove
plus all kitchen equipment. There is an ablution near by with hot water shower,
wash basin and flush toilet.
All bed linen and towels are supplied but please bring own swimming towels. TV
is available with SABC stations 1, 2, 3, and E TV, three of the cottages have
satellite dishes - see above but bring own decoder and card. We have good Cell
Phone reception. Restaurants are situated in the area about 9 km away. Please
note that we are 42 km from either Ladysmith or Harrismith so it is best to
bring supplies with you.
