Wishbone Waters is located 3km from the N2 in the rural farming area of The
Crags, between Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley. Birdlife is prolific, and
there are lots of possibilities for walking and cycling in the local and greater
region, to access stunning fynbos and forest areas. Many of the local farms are
affiliated to the Redford Conservancy, and ascribe to recommended nature
conservation principles.
Self-Catering Accommodation
The Cottage (sleeps 4) is set in a fynbos and garden area of the farm,
with an uninterrupted view of Peak Formosa and the Tsitsikamma mountains. It has
2 comfortable bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with twin beds. The living
and dining area opens to a patio. There is a fully equipped kitchen. The
bathroom has a bath and shower, with a separate toilet. There is a perimeter
fence at the cottage, and a well-controlled pet is welcome.
The Farmhouse (sleeps 8-10) is on a part of the farm that has cattle
camps used for grazing and for growth of feedcrops. Approximately 4 hectares of
land around the farmhouse is sectioned off and has groves of indigenous trees
and plants - the area around the house itself is kept mowed with some indigenous
garden. Eight guests can be accommodated in the 4 bedrooms, and two more guests
can be accommodated on the sleeper couches. There are 3 bathrooms. The large
living and dining area opens to an outside patio that has fine views of the
Tsitsikamma mountains and Peak Formosa. The main bedroom is downstairs, with an
ensuite bathroom. There is another bathroom (shower and toilet) off to the side
of the scullery. There are three twin bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, as well
as another small and quiet livingroom. The kitchen is fully equipped for
self-catering, and there is an outside barbecue area with picnic table.
In general -
- Regular servicing is included.
- Sheets and towels are changed every 4 days within longer stays.
- Personal washing and ironing can be done by arrangement within longer
stays.
- Beach towels can be supplied.
- Braai facilities (firewood supplied).
- TV and decoder available by arrangement.
- Simple meals can be provided by arrangement.
Local attractions within 5-7km: Birds of Eden, Tenikwa, Monkeyland, the
Elephant Sanctuary, Bramon Wine Estate and Restaurant, Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary,
The Mill and The Peppermill Restaurant, Kurland Polo Estate and Hotel, Nature's
Way Farm Stall. These and other destinations are included in the "Cruise The
Crags" tourist route.
Beaches are at Nature's Valley and Keurboomsstrand, each approximately 15
minutes' scenic drive away. Plettenberg Bay itself is 22km from the farm, and
has beaches, golf courses and plenty of options for shopping. Deep-sea fishing
and whale-watching excursions are also available. Knysna is about 45 minutes
drive from The Crags, as is Stormsriver with its adventure attractions - the
Canopy Tour, Blackwater Tubing, etc.
