Situated in the heart of Kloof, a leafy, upmarket suburb near Durban in Kwa-Zulu
Natal, South Africa, is a new 1 bedroom self-catering cottage perfect for a
short business trip, stop-over or as a base from which to explore the many
adventures this area has to offer. Being 700m above sea level, the climate is
more moderate (tolerable) than Durban's humidity.
The cottage has a private entrance, is situated on a secure property and
features a stunning open-plan living area, fully fitted modern kitchen, full
bathroom with bath and shower and a large bedroom opening out to a beautifully
landscaped private garden.
Welterusten is perfectly located close to many different activities which cater
for all ages and interests. We are also only 60km's from the new King Shaka
International Airport
Your friendly hosts Diane and Andrew van Dam; fluent in English, Afrikaans and
Dutch, will make your stay comfortable.

Activities
Kloof Gorge and the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve are 3 km away, where you can go
for beautiful walks to the waterfalls, observing some near extinct plant species
and an amazing variety of birds.
Close to shopping centres, many excellent restaurants, including the Heritage
supper theatre and coffee shops all within a 10 km radius that are sure to
satisfy even the most demanding of taste buds. World renowned Durban Country
Club and a host of other top golf courses in the vicinity, including Kloof
Country Club and Cotswold Downs. On the famous Comrades Marathon route.
We are also close to a number of private boarding schools, including Kearsney
and St. Mary's, making Welterusten an ideal place for parents to stay who are
coming up for the weekend to watch their children play sport or just to spend
some quality time together.
A short 25 min hop lands you in the centre of Durban city with easy access to
the central Durban beaches, uShaka Marine World, the Moses Mabhida Football
Stadium and many other activities. This affords you the opportunity of being
close to the action of the city while being able to escape the hustle and bustle
after a long day of sight-seeing, fun, sport or business.
The spectacular Valley of a 1000 Hills is a short drive away, where you have a
choice of restaurants with stunning views over the valley. There are also a
number of craft stalls that are worth a visit. Phezulu houses a traditional Zulu
village and hosts Zulu dancing shows or visit the crocodile farm, game farm or
watch your own Swazi candle being moulded in front of your eyes.
Day trips include the famous Tala Game Reserve which spans nearly 3000 hectares
of natural plains and grasslands and where you can view rhino, buffalo, giraffe,
zebra and many species of buck from open landrovers or your own vehicles. Also
the Midlands Meander which provides one with a varied array of hospitality,
arts, crafts, decor and outdoor activities in a beautiful and unique country
setting with the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains as a backdrop.
For those inclined to take up the challenge of hiking and exploring the majestic
Drakensberg mountains they are only a 3 hour drive away, as is the Umfolozi/Hluhluwe
Game Park where the Big 5 are sure to thrill and entertain.
Makaranga Lodge - a stunning conference centre, wedding venue & restaurant - is
set among 30 acres of lush botanical gardens. They welcome visitors for tea or
meals and to stroll in the gardens while admiring the excellent works of art.
This idyllic spot is just 3 minutes away from Welterusten.
The Umgeni train runs the first and last Sunday every month from the local
railway pub, Stoker's Arms, and is just 5 minutes away. This well renowned
attraction runs from Kloof to Inchanga, return. You can browse the local craft
market in Inchanga, or take in a meal before returning to Kloof on a coach
dating back as far as 1908, pulled by a genuine 1912 steam locomotive.
A regular visitor to our garden, you are bound to see the Purple-crested Lourie
during your stay.
