Wagendrift is situated in the heart of Mpumalanga on the banks of the Spekboom River, 11kms east of
Lydenburg on the
Ohrigstad road, in a valley surrounded by rolling hills with breathtaking views.
Accommodation
Two self-catering stone cottages and one log cabin fully equipped and serviced daily
except of Sundays.
Savuti: stone cottage with three en-suite bedrooms (2 double and 2 single beds) decorated in exclusive African style. Lounge with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove with oven, electric frying pan and microwave, enclosed veranda, lapa where one can braai or relax around the fire.
Jatabi: romantic stone cottage on dam wall, well equipped for a couple. Separate bedroom with a Queen-size bed. A bathroom with a shower, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove with oven, electric frying pan and microwave, own braai area, fireplace in open plan lounge / kitchen area, partially enclosed veranda.
Matumi: log cabin overlooking one of the dams with two en-suite bedrooms equipped with two single beds each. Lounge with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove with oven, electric frying pan and microwave, veranda, lapa where one can braai or relax around the fire.
Activities
- Fly-fishing for Rainbow, Brown and Spekboom Red Trout in three well stock dams totalling 2 hectares.
- Beautiful bushveld, like surroundings with abundant bird life for many hours of enjoyment for the bird lover.
- No formal hiking trail exists on the farm; walks can be undertaken by the visitors on one of the many pathways leading to the banks of the river with its dense riverine vegetation.
- Since the farm is situated in the transition between the Highveld and Lowveld, an interesting mixture of trees and other plants can be observed. The plants attract a wide range of birds and mammals that can be seen on walks.
- Guests are invited to picnic at the idyllic picnic spot on the banks of the Spekboom River, and even swim in the river.
- Wagendrift is ideally situated for day visits to the Kruger National Park (120km) or the scenic escarpment attractions such as Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Waterfalls, Viewpoints, Pilgrims Rest and Longtom pass.

Unique historical sites and national monuments in and around
Lydenburg. The Powder magazine (1890), The oldest school in Mpumalanga (1851), The Voortrekker Church (1855), The Zar Post Box (still in use) (1895) and the Steenkamp Bridge (1897).
Climate
Winter days are fine and warm with cold nights. Summer hot days with cool evenings. Guests must remember to bring warm clothing for the evenings and mornings.
General
Malaria Free Area. This is a low safety risk area. Children are welcome.
Pets Policy
Most dog breeds accepted all year around. Pets sleep inside the cottage -
bring own dogs beds, bedding & bowls. Dogs must be free of ticks and fleas on
arrival. Open areas & walking trials to take pets on - gardens are NOT enclosed.
Consideration must be given to resident dogs, cats, farm animals & wild life.
Pets stay FREE.
