The Underberg Hotel is situated on the main road of the small town of
Underberg. With off-road parking, the hotel consists of a pub, accommodation,
diningroom, off-sales, clothing & gift shop, and one of the best tour operators
for the Sani Pass trip into Lesotho to the Highest Pub in Africa, on its
premises.
The country pub has a fireplace, bar menu, 3 TV’s for sport, and great
atmosphere. The pub leads onto an open courtyard where you can eat, relax with a
cool refreshment, and watch sport on a 4th TV.
We have a small lounge area that opens up into the diningroom, which seats
around 30. A fireplace separates the two areas, and there is also a veranda that
leads off the diningroom where you can dine, while keeping an eye on the kids
playing on the jungle gym in the garden.
The hotel has 10 rooms, 1 Luxury, 7 standard, and 2 backpacker style rooms,
which can sleep a total of 23.
The luxury room has a queen size bed, and bath & shower en-suite
The standard rooms have bath en-suite with either double or single beds
The backpacker rooms have single beds, and the bathroom is in the passage
The luxury and standard rooms have TV’s with SABC and E-TV.
Facilities in the area:
Total Body Clinic for a facial, a hydrating paraffin wax, pedicure or manicure,
back massage, etc.
Tubing on the Umzimkhulu River (depending on the level of water in the river)
Hiking - 5 day Giants cup Trail, or some of the best short hikes around, within
12 - 30 km
Golf at the Country Club 9/18 hole course with magnificent views of the
mountains - within 1 km.
Tennis - 8 courts at a small fee (5 km)
Bowls - 2 greens. Tabs in on Wednesdays and Saturdays (within 1 km)
Horse Riding - 1 hr, 2 hrs, or even overnight rides into Lesotho (10km)
Quad Bikes - 16 km
Mountain bike trails for the whole family (5km)
Animal Farm and Cheesery (both within 6km)
Home Industry Farm with Art Gallery (within 2km)
