The uMuzi Bushcamp is near Ulundi in the grounds of the Ondini Cultural Museum, the site where the Zulu monarch, King Cetshwayo, built his royal residence which was destroyed by the British forces under Lord Chelmsford in 1879 during the Anglo-Zulu war.

Offering comfortable accommodation, seven of the huts have ensuite shower and toilets while the rest share modern ablution facilities.

Every hut is ensuite, has twin single beds, overhead fan, TV (local channels and shared satellite dish) and writing desk.

In the shade of huge Amarula trees the uMuzi is laid out in true traditional Zulu fashion surrounding the "isibayo" (cattle enclosure) where our bar forms the centrepiece of our entertainment area.

Our prices include a full English breakfast which is served in our dining room or if you wish under the spread of an Amarula tree, with binoculars close at hand, watching the early morning activities of our resident birds is an unforgettable moment in time.

The world famous Imfolozi-Hluhluwe Park is 30kms from us and we will pack breakfast for you to ensure an early start.

In the evenings, after your day's activities, you can relax around the fire near the bar in the uMuzi as it flickers into the shadows creating a unique atmosphere under the African sky.

Dinners, which are not included in the price, may take the form of a more formal roast in the dining room, a traditional Zulu braai in the isibayo or a sunset drive in nearby Opathe Game Reserve in an open drive vehicle followed by our well known bush braai.

Day trips into the eMakhosini Valley (Valley of the Zulu Kings), umGungundlovo where Dingaan ruled and Piet Retief and his followers were killed; Isandlawana, Rorke's Drift and Ulundi can be arranged.
