Tsene Lagoa Eco Lodge is a recently established guest lodge at Macanza beach
in the Bay of Zavora, Inharrime district about 400km to the North of the
Mozambican capital Maputo. Currently the lodge comprises a small cottage hotel
and dive centre. The hotel has a restaurant, two spacious luxury rooms with full
bathrooms on-suite as well as a family unit with two on-suite bedrooms,
kitchenette and living area. The dive centre has rustic but comfortable group
camp accommodation specifically geared towards dive groups and other specialists
groups such as birders, art groups, etc.
Construction of secluded stilted bush rooms for that extra special dune forest
experience has started in Tsene forest. Each room will be located in a secluded
area in Tsene forest to ensure complete privacy in quite and serene surrounds,
rustic in design but with luxury interiors and finishes. The first bush rooms
will be completed and ready for occupation by June 2010.

Tsene Lagoa Eco Lodge is part of the Macanza Marine and Forest Parkland area
which makes up the southern section of Praia de Zavora (Zavora Bay). This is a
less densely populated area with dune forest vegetation adjacent to Macanza
beach. The parkland includes the great fresh water Lake Lagoa Poelela, Tsene and
Nahoutsie forests with prolific bird life and other small game such as monkeys
and small buck. Macanza beach is quite and remote with excellent snorkelling
opportunities behind the protective reef at low tide.
Guided tours, airport transfers and package deals from SA to Mozambique via
Kruger National Park by arrangement. Special dive tours in conjunction with our
own inbound tour company, Tsene Dive Tours Mozambique.
Activities in the area include
- Scuba diving and snorkelling. Zavora bay is fresh new world class diving
destination with a wide variety of marine species including Manta Rays and
Whale Sharks. The wreck of the Klipfontein, a Dutch Liner that sank off the
coast of Zavora in 1953 makes is a must for the more experienced diver.
- Horse riding in picturesque settings with forest, lake and beach trails
to explore.
- Birding par excalance as well as a lovely variety of forest butterflies.
- Tsene art gallery and studio offering painting opportunities for novice
and experienced artists alike.

- The hotel has a restaurant, two spacious luxury rooms with full
bathrooms on-suite as well as a family unit with two on-suite bedrooms,
kitchenette and living area.
- Rooms are large and free standing with private decks overlooking Lake
Tsene in close proximity to Macanza beach.
- Each room is equipped with a small fridge, towelling, mosquito nets, linen
and fans.
- The family unit has in addition a stove, fridge and freezer and barbeque
area.

comfortable stay.

setting with constant bird song from the surrounding forest and the sound of
the waves off Macanza beach.
