TRAVELLERS REST
Self Catering Cottage Accommodation
in Clanwilliam, Cape West Coast,
Western Cape, South Africa
Traveller's Rest Farm is 34 km from Clanwilliam in the Cederberg Mountains on
the road to Wupperthal, over the spectacular Pakhuis Pass in an area with
ruggedly beautiful landscapes and fascinating rock formations.
The well-known Sevilla Rock Art Trail is situated on the Traveller's Rest Farm.
This 4km trail winds along the Brandewyn river and visits nine sites of rock art
paintings left behind by the San people.
The trail is relatively easy walking, the atmosphere is inspiring and in spring
the wild flowers are and added bonus. Small game, dassies and baboons may be
encountered on the walk and a fascinating array of indigenous plant species and
birds can be observed. Herds of springbuck and eland may also be seen during the
walk.
Traveller's Rest offers 16 cottages in total, spread over a huge area in wide
open settings. The cottages are all delightful in their earthy
simplicity and surprising in their homely, well-equipped comfort. Interiors are
eclectic and colourful with natural reed ceilings, homely furniture, huge
fireplaces for cold winter evenings and electric fans for hot weather. All the
kitchens are equipped with cutlery and crockery, fridges, hot plates and
microwaves. Bed linen and towels are provided. Outdoor braai areas (barbecues)
complete the picture, for which fire wood can be bought on the farm.
Cederberg Horse Trail Safaris operates from Traveller's Rest by Leon le Roux.
