Halfway between Vanderbijlpark and Parys you will find the picturesque town of Vaaloewer. The town which is 80km from Johannesburg lies next to the Vaal River. The residents of this beautiful part of the world are wonderful, relaxed and accommodating. Vaaloewer is a town where people choose to spend weekends and holidays just relaxing, it's perfect for taking a well-deserved break in a safe country village atmosphere. Despite this country village feel the town is also within easy reach of Sasolburg, Vereeniging, Potchefstroom, Fochville, Carletonville and Pretoria.
Although the town is located on the Vaal River, the rivers access is controlled by way of servitudes over riverfront properties. The town is also home to the Goose Bay Canyon Recreation and Power Boat Club which has facilities such as slipway, jetties, a swimming pool, ablutions and a lawned picnic area. From the river visitors are able to absorb the wild life and unspoilt natural rock ridges on the town's islands and view game on the game farm across the river from the comfort of your boat.Slow cruises, winter and summer, prove to be very rewarding and popular. The town planners decided to leave open parks across the town undeveloped so that when the town is fully developed, there will still be open green belt areas.
