Reitz

Reitz, in the heart of the beautiful Free State province is just about 2 hours out of Johannesburg. Due to this, it is an ideal getaway destination for an outdoor weekend excursion.

This perfect little spot was founded in 1889 and was originally called Amsterdam, but was then later renamed after the former President Reitz.

Reitz is the home of the largest farmer co-operative in Southern Africa. The surrounding farms produce mainly products such as maize, wheat and cattle. Maize silo's found in this town are of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are many things to keep you busy here. For example, lovely accommodation and conference venues; Anglo-Boer war battlefields and remnants; Game Parks; Hunting; Lion breeding; and San artwork.
