Infanta

Infanta
Infanta is a beautiful but small fishing town in the Overberg area in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It is approximately 2 hours away from Cape Town itself which makes it convenient for visitors to spend a day or weekend. Infanta is situated on the western side of the Breede River Mouth which in itself brings beautiful scenic views, wildlife and bird species. The area is a nature lovers paradise and it is just as popular amongst fishermen and surfers.

Attractions:
One of the greatest attractions to this unspoiled area are the Southern Right Whales. This annual event, which occurs between the months of June to November and sometimes into December, attracts many visitors and the sites are spectacular. This is definitely something worth seeing. The Road to Infanta is a bit of a rollcoaster ride but worth it. If you are looking for a holiday by the sea, where you can relax and enjoy the sun and surf, then this is the place for you. Get away from the busy city lifestyle and enjoy the sound of the waves while watching whales frolicking in the sea. There are a number of camping sites and chalets in the area if you are wanting to spend more than one day. Charter boats are also available in the area by appointment. There is so much to see and enjoy at this seaside settlement.

Climate:
Infanta is situated in the Western Cape which generally enjoys a Mediterranean climate. (although this varies in some parts of the Western Cape) The summer months are warm to hot and dry and the winter months are cool and wet with temperatures dropping considerable in the evenings.
