Tout en Haut is located in Bergview Estate, an access-controlled secure
estate in the Central Drakensberg.
Tout en Haut is a well appointed self catering cottage which comfortably
sleeps eight. The cottage has 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The main bedroom en
suite has a queen size bed and a private lounge area with double sliding doors
opening up onto the garden with beautiful views of Champagne Valley. The second
bedroom, with a bay window overlooking the garden has a king size bed and the
third bedroom has two twin beds. The fourth bedroom leads off from the main
bedroom and is suitable for children and shares the en suite bathroom. The
second and third bedrooms share a full bathroom with a bath. There is a third
bathroom with a shower which has an outside entrance. Extra comfort includes
heating in all the bedrooms for those winter evenings and a gas heater in the
lounge makes for cosy evenings in front of the television. The patio, with
sweeping views of Champagne Valley, is the perfect spot to spend lazy summer
afternoons and evenings watching the night sky.
The cottage is also equipped with a DVD player, and a DSTV decoder, for
which guests must please bring their own smart card. A barbecue / braai
facility is situated on the side of the house.
The peace and
tranquillity of the mountains are not the only reasons to visit the
Drakensberg. From the cottage, there is easy access to numerous walks and
hikes, both up into the mountains, or down into the valleys with their
impressive indigenous forests, and bountiful birdlife. Bergview Estate boasts a
recently established vulture-feeding station, which attracts a number of
different raptors.
The valley offers many other forms of entertainment, including horse-riding,
quad-biking, white-water rafting, mountain boarding, and world-class mountain
bike trails for the more adventurous. Local craft such as carpet-weaving, grass
basketry and world-renowned Ardmore pottery can be appreciated and purchased at
source in the valley. The Drakensberg Boys' Choir performs every Wednesday.
