Earthdance Cape Town

Earthdance Cape Town
Earthdance is the worlds largest synchronized music and dance festival for peace and is held each year during September, celebrating the International Day of Peace. Since its inception in 1997, Earthdance has been held annually in over 500 locations in 80 countries with all events simultaneously joining together in the Prayer for Peace. Each of the public Earthdance events commits half of its profits to a charity addressing peace, sustainability, or social justice. Some of the local causes which have been supported include Earthchild Project and Greenpop. Some of the categories which receive support include The Welfare of Children and Urban Youth, Indigenous Peoples and Cultures, International Relief and Development, Environmental Sustainability and Protection, and Organizations that Promote Peace.

At 1am on the Sunday morning (SA Time) all Earthdance individuals, private gatherings and public events across the globe celebrate and activate peace through creative expression, activism and community building and all join in the Prayer for Peace at the same time. Earthdance is streamed live from all venues around the world including Cape Town to other Earthdance events as well as anyone else wanting to look in.

The Peace Watch was developed by Earthdance and extends the annual synchronized Prayer for Peace into a daily meditation practice. The Earthdance Peace Watch is currently available as a widget for websites, blogs and social networks, and as an I-Phone app. Each day the Earthdance Peace Watch sets two times for our shared global peace meditation, indicated by the violet dot and the numeric countdown. It automatically adjusts for time zones so everyone around the world is focusing on peace at the same time. The synchronized time is shifting forward one hour each day. The meditation period is 7 minutes.

The Cape Town event is held at Nekkies Resort in Worcester, Cape Town. The resort has been the home of Earthdance Cape Town for a number of years and this much loved campsite is an excellent venue with lots to offer. Over the last few years organisers have formed a strong relationship with the local municipality, services and businesses and love returning to this space, where the surrounding community have been so good to them.

The Festival is jam packed with various facilities like Multiple Entertainment Areas/Stages, Camping Space (Which is included in all ticket prices), a Variety of Food Stalls (Great Vegetarian Options too), a Craft Market, the River, Swimming Pool, On Site Medical Service, Friendly and vigilant Security, Toilets, Showers, World Class Decor & Art Installations, Workshops & Talks (focused on Environmental and Social Concerns), a Healing Area and So Much More!

It is advised that you bring Camping gear, Tents, Sleeping Bags, Warm clothes, Silly outfits, Money, Sunglasses, Sun-cream, a Torch, Swimming costume, Cushions, throws/rugs and anything else that might make your experience more comfy and warm and Ready Made Meals.

Children under the age of 12 get in for free, and must be under their own parent supervision at all times and kept away from the main dancefloors. This is not an event for children, but organisers do understand that some parents with younger children might struggle to find babysitters etc. In this case parents may camp near the Heartspace and children can remain in that area under a parents care. Children only allowed in under their OWN parental supervision. Brothers, Aunts, Best Friends Mother, Neighbours do NOT count!!

NB: This is an over 18 festival and anyone who fails to present a valid I.D or Drivers License at an outlet will not be sold a ticket. If you are asked to present an I.D. or Drivers License at the gate after purchasing a ticket from an outlet and you fail to do so, you will not be allowed in and the ticket will not be refunded.
