Rooftop Rocks

Rooftop Rocks

Perched on top of the Grand Daddy hotel in the vibrant hub of Cape Town, on Long Street, you will find the Airstream Rooftop Trailer Park. More than just a gorgeous, opulent and novel overnighter, the trailer park also plays host to a number of events and mirrors the talent, style and flavour of the Mother City.
One of the all time favourite events at the Grand Daddy is Rooftop Rocks where various artists use this unique venue to perform small personal concerts. The line up for November and December 2011 includes; Dave Ferguson, Them Tornados and Long Time Citizen.
If you have a cowboy hat and boots, its time to dust them off and prepare for a special evening of good old fashion fun with a modern twist. Dave Ferguson is back on the rooftop with his harmonica, human beat-box and vocals, recording live loops and then layering and building those loops to construct a song.

Its the music your mama warned you about, the same music your daddy went out drinking and carousing with all night long. It may even have shot a man once, who knows? Its the sound you want in the hands of Them Tornados - a little bit dirty, a little bit dangerous and a whole lot of shaking going on in all the right places. Its Rockabilly, the love child of rock n roll and hillbilly country music. Them Tornados give rockabilly everything they have, and make sure that their live gigs are legendary, leaving fans dripping with sweat and begging for more.

Long Time Citizen is a music project by Cape Town musicians Greg Donnelly and Anton Marshall. Both also occasionally play solo and with their other bands. Long Time Citizen is in some respects a song writing project for retired rock stars.
