Montagu Mountain Madness

The M3 or Montagu Mountain Madness is an Outdoor Adventure Festival which combines the experience of a trail run or mountain bike race in the beautiful mountains of Montagu. With its famous Montagu wines, dried fruit and free access to the world renowned hot springs for the weekend, why not make it a weekend to remember. The festival consists of the Asics X-treme Trail Runs which include the 4 kilometre, 10 kilometre, 17 kilometre runs and the Montagu Mountain bike races which include the 15 kilometre, 40 kilometre, 60 kilometre rides which all start and finish at the Avalon Springs Hotel in Montagu. Like most festivals there will also be additional entertainment, and this takes place at the Avalon Springs Hotel and includes music and food.

The 17 kilometre and 10 kilometre runs consist of single loops of the inspiring mountain trails located within the Montagu Mountain Reserve. Both start from the Avalon Springs Hotel, weave through Badkloof Gorge and follow the Cogmans Hiking Trail. The 17 kilometre trail run is rocky and technical in places and the 10 kilometre is a lovely trail run for those who need a slightly less challenging run. The 4 kilometre Fun run winds through Badskloof Gorge and back and is a lovely run or walk for everyone.

The 2011 dates saw the main events taking place on Friday, 13 May 2011 and the prize givings on Saturday, 14 May 2011from 12:30 onwards.

Mountain Trail Runs:
17 kilometre - 8:00
10 kilometre - 8:30
4 kilometre - 8:45

Mountain bike races
Starting times:
60 kilometre - 8:30
40 kilometre - 8:45
15 kilometre - 9:00
