Once a year the town holds a festival which celebrates the indigenous culture of the people of Namakwa, The festival includes shows with snakes and birds, arts and crafts exhibitions, sport races, tribal dances, storytelling, theatre and dance performances, as well as a street carnival. The crowning of Miss and Mister Namakwa festival, where local beauties strut their stuff to earn the honour and bragging rights of being named the loveliest of lovelies in the region for the next year. The Namakwa Festival is a highlight on the Northern Cape cultural calendar and it should be on yours as well.
