The Swellendam Hiking Trail is situated in Swellendam in the Western Cape, South Africa. The trail takes 5 to 6 days to complete but there are a few options for those who want to enjoy a shorter trail. This is not a trail for anyone. It is a unique hike with day one starting off with 15km trail. The hike starts at the Glenstream Hut and ascends into the mountains. The next few days are strenuous but a hikers dream. Scenic views as well as the fynbos are indescribable, so be sure to take your camera. Each day is a new adventure. There are refreshing pools where you can relax after a strenuous day and get some fresh water. It is advisable to take at least 2lt of water with you as well as warm and waterproof clothing, the weather can change within minutes.
The trail is unique and if hiking is a love of yours, this should be on the top of your list of things to do while visiting the Western Cape.

Directions
From the Cape Town side of Swellendams main road, turn left up Andrew Whyte Street to the golf course. Look for the signboards leading to the reserve office, about 1km from the golf course.
