Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate

Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate

Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, known for its red wines. It is a provincial heritage site in the suburb of Faure in the Stellenbosch Wine Production Region. The role of nature in the sustainability of wine production has always been respected at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate.

All viticulture practices are done by hand, which creates an intensive attention to the vines. Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate is unique in the use of Indian Runner Ducks as part of their pest control program.

The Indian Runners "work" in the vineyards by eating snails and other insects. More than 1000 Indian Runners are herded into the vineyards daily to forage for snails and insects.

The Parade of Ducks (walking to and from the vineyards) has become a major public attraction at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate.
