Bloemendal Winehouse Farm Festival

Bloemendal Winehouse Farm Festival

Set in the heart of the Durbanville region in the Western Cape lies a farm with a 300 year history, Bloemendal. During the early days of the Cape, Dutch East India Company ships would get their supplies from Bloemendal en route to the Spice Islands. Today the area is know for its high quality grapes and wines and at Bloemendal they know just how to celebrate this, with a taste of farm life, live bands, food stalls, farm sports and competitions. The bands include music from various genres including Boere Orkeste, Country, Rock and Blues, and all from the talented musos of the cape. Along with the music comes food, food, food. Potjies like kerrie affal, lamb, bredies etc, to the good ol South African braai, with rooster brood, stywe pap, farm breads and lots more. Dungarees and straw hats are going to be the dress code of the day, and great prizes will be given away to the best dressed.

23 and 24 April 2011 sees Bloemendal open its doors for the Oyster and Champagne Festival which will include live bands, French Champagne, local sparkling wines, 20 000 oysters, kids entertainment and competitions too. From 10:00 to midnight, come and join the fun. Other great festivals include the Feast of the Grape in March, Soup Sip and Bread in June, Spring Fest in September, and the Table Mountain Blues Summit in November.
