Paradise Stables

Paradise Stables

Set on the Robertsvallei farm, in one of the most scenic areas of the Western Cape, Franschhoek is a small retreat called Paradise Stables. There so much to do here, including, fishing for carp and bass in the dam, swimming in the pool, following the marked hiking trail up to the top of a koppie (a small hill rising up from the African veld), exploring the forest (either on foot or bike), cycling into town for breakfast or afternoon tea, or signing up for what Paradise Stables is best known for, its horse trails and horseback wine tasting on purebred Arabian Horses with guide Pieter Hugo. The outings are interesting rides through a varied terrain of hillside, woodland, tracks and vineyards and allow you to experience some of this beautiful countryside up close. There are great views of the valley along almost all of the routes.

Horseback Wine Tasting
This horseback trail is a scenic ride through vineyards, forests and over mountains. The trip includes stops at the Rickety Bridge Winery and Mont Rochelle before returning to the stables. The total riding time is around two and a half hours, with approximately thirty minute stops at each wine estate.
Horse Trails
Paradise Stables have experienced guides that will take you on a scenic tour of the area which lasts for approximately one hour.
Both experienced riders and beginners are welcome, but only supervised, experienced children over 12 years may ride.
