The Dunes 4x4 Trail

Located just 10km outside Lamberts Bay on the Clanwilliam Road, the R364, this trail is far more than its name entails. The Dunes 4x4 Trail is a playground for the entire family. With 4x4s, quad bikes, sandboards, or even just on foot, exploring this approximately 250Ha of snow-white sand dunes is exciting for everyone. The 26km 4X4 route can take from 3 - 6 hours depending on your vehicle and skill levels, and allows for a maximum of 20 vehicles at any one time. Fully automatic quad bikes are available for hire and riders need not have any experience or license. Whether its for children or families, Sightseeing or Flowers, adventure sports and team building activities, everyone is catered for, even the sundowner trip with a touch of adventure. These are not beach dunes, so the beach ban on 4X4s does not affect this trail, rather expect a mini-Namib experience only two and a half hours from Cape Town.
There are a minimum of 5 vehicles permitted on the 4X4 trail. The joy of these 4x4 dunes is that they present an exciting challenge whatever your skill level and whatever the capabilities of your 4x4 are. The trail is graded as moderate to difficult. Bookings are essential!
