Worcester Yacht Club

The Brandvlei Dam is home to the Worcester Yacht Club, a watersports and sailing destination since 1952, when it was officially opened by its founders. It is situated 5km from the centre of Worcester, in the famous Worcester Valley in the Western Cape, 110km from Cape Town.

It has got to a point where the line is thin, is the club on the dam or is the dam part of the club. This dam is known as one of the best in the country for all types of watersports and entrance to the dam in only through the Yacht club. It is open to members, day visitors or even over night camping. The club has facilities for tents and caravans with ablution facilities and visitors are more than welcome to make use of the braai (barbeque) areas and launch. During season the club has a rescue service as safety is a top priority. Visitors are welcome to bring there own boat, whether they be sailing boats, motorboats or paddling boats to enjoy the dam but unfortunately Jet Skis are not permitted at all.

Fishing is also popular on the dam and it is filled with Carp, Whitefish, Bluegills, Bigmouth and Smallmouth Black Bass, (please note that Whitefish may not be removed from the water at all!)

The dam is closed out of season as there are no rescue services. Arrangements can be made to access the dam out of season, but this is completely at your own risk.
