The town of Hartbeespoort and its dam lies just 35 km from Pretoria and 55 km outside of Johannesburg and serves as an ideal weekend getaway destination and breakfast run for the Jo'burg executive bikers' set.
The R562 from Johannesburg is a picturesque and scenic drive that takes one to the edge of the majestic Magaliesberg Mountain range that surrounds the sparkling Hartbeespoort dam - where most water sports are enjoyed. Dotted along its shores and beyond is the village of Hartbeespoort, now a sought after 'suburb', which has developed significantly in the last 8 years.
