Hibberdene, exactly 90km South of Durban. All that lies between the house and the Indian Ocean is indigenous coastal bush.
The House
The house comprises of 3 bedrooms - 2 sea facing and one pool facing. It sleeps a maximum of
8 people. The main bedroom has a full en-suite bathroom (bath, shower & toilet) and a queen bed. The pool facing room has two double bunks, while the other sea facing room has one single and one double bed. All rooms have ceiling fans and B.I.C., and the living area is air conditioned. Duvets and pillows are provided for all beds - guests are required to bring their own duvet covers, pillow cases, linen and towels (beach & bath). There is another full bathroom, and an additional separate toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and includes 2 fridges, stove, microwave and all necessary appliances, crockery and cutlery. The lounge has TV, DVD player and DStv decoder - card excluded. The living/kitchen area is open plan with a breakfast bar for dining. Most meals, however take place on the spacious, covered entertainment area adjoining the huge swimming pool (12 x 4m). This area is completely private and protected from the wind. The front veranda is equally attractive, with 180 degree sea views and wind protection.
There are double lock up garages and laundry/maid's room. Security is very good, with security gates on all exterior doors, burglar guards, full alarm system and security lights. The property is fully fenced. There is a lock up safe in the main bedroom for valuables and car keys. The alarm code will be given to guests on arrival.
There is no smoking allowed in the house, and no pets allowed.
The daily rate includes a maid whose hours are from 9am until 3pm. Her responsibilities are general house cleaning, and clothes washing if required. The house keys are held by our neighbor, who will open and close on arrival and departure. General house rules and additional information are posted on the noticeboard in the house.
The Beach
There is a path 50m south of the house which leads directly to the beach. Excellent fishing and diving is to be had in the gullies and rock pools. 2km south of the house is Hibberdene's main beach. It is a "Blue Flag" beach (i.e. top status) with shark nets, lifeguards, boat rides, flea market, super-tube, Putt-Putt, "Jolly Roger" beach restaurant and toilet/shower facilities.
The Area
Adjacent to the main beach is Hibberdene's Spar centre which provides a very good Spar, Wimpy, Video shop, beach shop, pharmacy, doctor's rooms, bottle store, Mica Hardware etc. A nine-hole short golfcourse can be found within 2kms of the house.
