The Highland Cottage @ Critchley Hackle Lodge is newly renovated studio cottage on the ground floor which is equipped for 2 people - only 2.5 hours from Pretoria and 3 hours from Johannesburg.
At the cottage you can expect a king size bed, block-out curtains, a wood fireplace, 2 Lazyboy recliners, a flatscreen TV with a hotel bouquet (includes sporting and movie channels), a coffee/tea station, a wine-cooler fridge, a bathroom with a corner bath, shower and double basin vanity, and a patio with seating area.
The front row position ensures a full view of the tranquil dam and the cottage is close to the sparkling pool.
Being within walking distance of the bustling main street, one can easily set out on foot to discover every quaint shop, art gallery, and restaurant in Dullstroom. The acclaimed whiskey/beer tasting is also highly recommended.
The cottage does not have kitchen facilities, but rather offers the best of both worlds: the use of the Lodge facilities and well-tended grounds, as well as the freedom to sample meals at the variety of eateries Dullstroom boasts.
On the premises you will find safe parking close to the cottage, a restaurant with a deck overlooking the dam, a bar, swimming pool, and a stocked dam for fishing (fish caught are for the account of the guest - the Lodge staff can clean and/or freeze or cook the fish for you).
Dullstroom is en route to the Lowveld, the Kruger National Park as well as Mozambique, which is great for a short stop-over. But the rolling hills, romantic setting, trout farms and other outdoor activities, will entice you to stay longer and to visit again!
