At Sutherland Inn you will receive personal attention to make your stay as
comfortable as possible. Sutherland Inn is a historic house set in the peaceful,
beautiful and colorful surroundings of the Karoo. It is currently one hundred
and six years old and still maintains a lot of the original features and
characteristics, it has been kept in immaculate condition, and whilst at the
same time hosts all the modern commodities. The Inn also has two lounge areas,
both with fireplaces against the winter cold.
It is situated in the Northern Cape and is only 340km from Cape Town with
breathtaking views of the countryside, mountains and vineyards along the way.
There are three en-suite spacious bedrooms which are luxuriously furnished with
the original wooden floors and Persian carpets. The forth en-suite bedroom is
slightly smaller with a separate entrance and hosts the same luxury as the other
rooms. All the rooms at Sutherland Inn have heaters and electric blankets. There
are tea and coffee making facilities in all the bedrooms along with a small
radio/cd player for your conveyance.
Breakfast and other meals are served in the sunny dining room with views of the
surrounding countryside and town. The rates include breakfast and if required
dinner can be prepared upon request at an additional charge. We also cater for
groups.
Sutherland is well known for its 80% clear skies and star gazing evenings. We
have a telescope on the premises with which you can see the rings around Saturn
and Jupiter’s moons. There is also an extensive selection of books and cd's
available for use. Unfortunately we no longer make bookings at the observatory
but you can contact them during office hours.
Sutherland's temperatures vary from warm in summer to chilly and possibly white
with snow in winter. At Sutherland Inn you will always receive a warm welcome
and friendly service at our Guesthouse. Sutherland Inn is a pet friendly
guesthouse.
We also offer two and three day Package deals with transport included from
Stellenbosch. Included in this package is a train ride and visit to the historic
town of Matjiesfontein and all tours in Sutherland.
