Sunset Lodge is situated approximately 496kms north of Maputo on the Barra
Point with the most breathtaking views of the white sandy beaches and the
crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
The warm waters allow for safe all year round bathing and the endless clean
beaches are ideal for that relaxing romantic stroll.
Barra is well known for its game fishing & boat launching from the beach is
smooth & easy. The vast array of unexplored reefs just teeming with marine life,
are perfect for snorkeling or scuba.
Accommodation
7 self catering cottages- made of brick and thatch- create a relaxing homely
atmosphere & are situated +- 500m up from the beach on a sand dune which
overlooks the picturesque Mangrove swamps & the pristine beaches.
The units consist of three bedrooms, one being an en suite with a double bed and
the remaining two sharing a bathroom with beds in each. An airy, open plan
lounge come dining room & kitchen completes these beautiful cottages. All
verandas are enclosed with a set of tables & chairs & a braai area out front.
All the basic amenities are supplied including a gas stove, electric fridge, a
chest freezer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, a kettle, pots, pans, crockery,
cutlery, utensils and bedding linen. All rooms are fitted with mosquito nets.
Please provide your own towels.
Small safes are fitted in each cottage for your peace of mind to store any
valuables.
The units are serviced daily & we do offer a wash & dry laundry service.
Security
The lodge offers 24 hour security with a guard patrolling at all times.
Pool / Bar and Restaurant
Come & absorb the near 360o majestic views whilst sipping on one of our exotic
cocktails at The Thirsty Parrot Bar. The restaurant offers a variety of hearty
meals with fresh seafood dominating the menu. Take a refreshing dip in the
crystal clear pool which surrounds half of the bar & creates that tropical
holiday feel

Weather
The all year round warm climate makes Mozambique the perfect holiday destination
with the summers being hot & temperatures reaching into the high thirties.
Winters are slightly cooler with temperatures being in the mid to low twenties.
Sunset Lodge is perfectly situated for the hot summer months with gentle sea
breezes that cool the area down.
The rainy season occurs between November & March & the annual rainfall is around
1000mm. The showers come in short sharp bursts.
Being a tropical region it rarely gets cold, but it is advisable to bring a warm
garment in case of occasional cool evenings. Please be sure to bring a sun hat
or cap & sunscreen lotion.
How to get there:
By Air:
Flights are available from Johannesburg to Inhambane
By Road:
Please note that it is advised to travel by 4X4 or in a vehicle with a
diff-lock. This will enable you to get to the beach & give you the freedom to
explore the beautiful area.
The main road will take you through many towns & villages & it is advised to
drive with caution through these areas & adhere to the speed limits.
Please DO NOT drive at night as the roads can be treacherous. The drive from
Maputo to Inhambane can take up to 8 hours so please plan your trip to avoid
driving at night
Health
As Mozambique is a malaria area please be sure to take all the necessary
precautions before your holiday. Pleas speak to your medical practitioner.
