Stone Cottage consist of two Cottages named The Cottage and The
Stables:
The Cottage is fully furnished with a self contained Kitchen, main bedroom,
bathroom, lounge equipped with a double & single sleeper couch, television and
has the benefit of a small secluded private garden equipped with braai
facilities.
The Stables is newly renovated with a fully furnished bedroom, television,
bathroom on suite and adjoining self contained kitchen and has the benefit of a
small garden equipped with an additional outside garden shower and braai
facilities. The adjoining second bedroom have a Sleeper bunk bed. The bottom is
a double sleeper couch and the top is a single bunk bed, allowing for lounging
during the day with the bed up and out the way until it’s time to sleep with a
shared bathroom, kitchen, garden, garden shower and braai facilities.
Bath towels, coffee, tea, milk and sugar are provided on arrival, the kitchens
are fully equipped with most things needed (excluding food). There is a friendly
Spar and country butchery, bottle-store where most things needed can be
purchased.
Stone Cottage was build in the 1940's and is a gorgeous, cosy and charming
guesthouse, nestled amongst a beautiful garden extended to an acre of trees and
shrubs, which have been carefully maintained in a naturalistic semi-wild state
attracting many species of bird life and undoubtedly is one of the most
delightful escapes for a weekend getaway. This unpretentious country cottage has
a cheerful electric blend of the quaint and the contemporary. Not only has Stone
Cottage the appeal of lively originality, the ambience is warm, and the service
dedicated. For nature enthusiastic, birdlife abounds in a garden paradise with
poolside leisure and romantic picnics, which become part of the experience.
Leisurely country days can be filled with picturesque walks, a romantic
sunset/sunrise cruise can be arranged (early bookings essential) windsurfing,
kite surf, fishing and mountain biking, a visit to the Historic Motorcycle
Museum, Castle, the nature reserve (complete with Koi ruins), Crocodile farm is
definitely a must.
There are adequate parking for boats, trailers, cars and full access to the main
garden and pool. I am a member of the water sports club and visitors are welcome
to use my membership card to allow them access to the waterfront (at no
additional charge), which has braai, ablution, launching facilities and is a
lovely fishing spot. There are three yacht clubs which also provides launching
facilities for powerboats
and yachts. The town also boast with restaurants, a library, bird sanctuary and
the popular Vaal Dam which has clean water, clean enough for swimming.
Only 35km away is the Emerald Casino, which now has a water theme park and a
very well-maintained animal sanctuary, where you can view exotic species of
birds, reptiles and mammals, at reasonable prices for a game viewing drive, with
a ranger, seeing animals like rhino and giraffe at close quarters.
Or why not spend a Thursday afternoon at the Vaal Racecourse (just 26 kms.
away), enjoying the horses up close and personal and having a flutter on your
fancy? Lunch and drinks are available at reasonable cost.
For golfing enthusiasts, both the Maccauvlei and the Riviera Golf Courses are
within 25 minutes of Deneysville
