The Saint James on Venice is a charming 14 room hotel is situated in the
stylish and upmarket leafy suburb of Morningside, Durban. Closely linked to all
amenities, eateries and arterial routes, it has an updated "old fashion" charm
which caters to the needs of the current discerning traveller or businessman.
Beautifully redecorated and designed, with sophistication in mind, and in line
with the original architectural ethos, one experiences gracious public spaces,
lead light bay windows, and rooms with the finest linen and furniture, which
mirror the refined hospitality on offer. The key note here is elegance, with
undertones of efficient but unobtrusive service, lush decor, comfort and
opulence, with the peace and quiet to rest or conduct business meetings, or use
as a base to explore other parts of Durban and Kzn.
From daily newspapers delivery and freshly baked biscuits placed in each room
upon arrival (with complimentary tea and coffee station) followed by "turndown
truffles" every night , and personal extra touches like "flowers at turndown "
from our own garden (frangipani tree and bougainvillea) - this is part of the
bespoke and unique home-away-from-home feeling at the hotel. For those
travelling with children we have baby linen for the small travellers and a
pretty garden for children to play in.
Our food is an eclectic array of the freshest ingredients, we have our own herb
garden, and our Chef Marie-Louise Keijser has worked in a number of highly
acclaimed kitchens from Critchely Hackle Lodge in Dulstroom as chef de partie
and sous chef, to Little Switzerland Resort in Northern Drakensburg . She also
worked in Mozambique in Pemba on a privately owned 100 foot yacht and then at
the Makaranga Garden Lodge as Head Chef. After that, at the Fairways Golf Lodge
as Head Chef and then Cathedral Peak as executive sous chef. Try her gorgeous
"Afternoon tea, daily"from 11h00 - 16h00.
A private Boardroom that accommodates 30 people can be used in work/meeting
mode, or for other gatherings with all modern meeting equipment and on site
business services.
The graciously landscaped terraced garden provides a place to relax, and a menu
from light snacks to sumptuous meals can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors. We have
gorgeous bird life in our gardens, birdsong in the morning and the occasional
owl visitor at night. Florida road is minutes away with an assortment of coffee
shops and restaurants from which to choose.
