Shiriba Farm is a privately owned 100 acre property in the
Champagne Valley.
Unwind in the peace and tranquillity of our two Cottages, nestled on the edge of
a dam and looking out to the mountains of the
Central Drakensberg.
It's an oasis of serenity with plenty to do in the surrounds. Here at Shiriba
you could enjoy your own splash pool, walks, canoeing, bird-watching or fishing
for bass on the large dam (B.Y.O. rod). Alternatively you may wish to explore
the arts and crafts centres or one of the many activities available here in the
neighbourhood.
We have only 2 cottages, well spaced apart for your privacy and within reason
are happy to accept any special requests you might have. Everything is nice.. we
don’t do 'tatty'. We're 2 1/2 hours from Durban and about 4 1/2 hours from
Johannesburg. Gay friendly and managed.
Honeystone Cottage - self catering sleeps 2
Our garden cottage is private and secluded and offers both views of the Berg as
well as a dam teaming with birdlife. This romantic hideaway-for-two comprises a
quaint stone and thatch double-story build - perfect for those who want to
escape to the tranquillity of nature for a while. It’s great for re-energising
escapes, honeymoons or anniversaries.
Upstairs, the spacious bedroom offers a deliciously comfortable queen bed and
flaunts lovely views of the mountain, surrounding countryside and dam.
Downstairs, this self catering unit offers a fully equipped open plan kitchen
with gas/electric stove, microwave and a fridge freezer large enough for those
extra supplies. The kitchen opens to the lounge dining area which boasts a cosy
fireplace for the cool winter nights. A well appointed modern bathroom has both
bath and shower.
From ground level, double-doors open out to the garden, braai and splash-pool
vista; The wooden deck invites you for sundowners, whilst the evening dam-life
puts on the entertainment. Next to the deck is a canoe for those who want to get
closer to the action. A shaded car port solves the sun or hail challenges.
Included in the inventory are the following: Linen, oil heater, electric
blanket, swimming towels, bath towels, mosquito net, overhead fan and extra
blankets. A range of incidentals are also included - ice in the freezer, water,
hair dryer, umbrella, torch, cd player with docking station, a safe for
valuables and a basket of wood on arrival for fires/braais. The cottage is
serviced daily between 10am and 12 unless you'd prefer not to be bothered.

Firefly Cottage - self catering sleeps 4
150m away, also on the edge of the dam and with views of the mountain, this 2
bedroom/ 2bathroom cottage is a free standing single level abode. Quiet and
private - a great place for good friends to relax and enjoy one another's
company after a long days hike.
Both rooms are spacious - The main room having bath and shower and looking out
to the mountain, whilst the second room has a shower and looks to the dam. Both
offer comfortable kingsize extra-length beds, or singles if preferred. Linen and
towels are provided.
The open plan living area offers a fully equipped kitchen, incl. cutlery,
crockery, gas/electric stove, microwave and fridge freezer. The kitchen opens to
the dining / lounge area with comfortable furniture, bar and fireplace… flowing
then out onto a covered veranda and the dam vista…the perfect setting for fire’s
in the pit or in the braai area.
Included in the inventory are the following: electric blankets, fan, bath
towels, and extra blankets. A range of incidentals are also included - ice in
the freezer, water, torch, cd player and a basket of wood on arrival for fires/braais.
Extra wood is available and If you’d like, the cottage may be serviced between
11am and 12pm. Pets by arrangement only.

- Cedarwood Supermarket and Liquor Store is situated across the road from Champagne Sports Resort; alternatively Winterton is about 30km away.
- Petrol is available at Champagne Sports and Dragons Peak.
- Golf - 18 holes at Champagne Sports Resort (rated in top 30 by Complete Golfer) and 9 holes at Monks Cowl.
- Drakensberg Boys Choir concerts.
- Choice of Restaurants/Coffee Shops.
- Horse riding.
- Tennis Bowls and Fishing.
- Scenic Helicopter Flights.
- See locals weaving rugs atKwaZulu Weavers and treat yourself at the
Wafflehut
