A small exclusive luxury lodge nestled under the majestic Drakensburg
Mountains. In a elegant and relaxed setting. This is an ideal base to explore
the Limpopo Province and only an hour to Kruger National Park.
Our lodge commands wonderful vistas of the Drakensburg Mountains which are home
to the Manoutsa Vulture Colony with up to 660 pairs of Cape Vulture. This is the
fourth largest colony in the world.
The Main lodge area has a tranquil plunge pool and shady veranda. Watch the
sunset turn the Mountains into a rainbow of colour while having snacks and
sundowners then dine under a dark velvet sky full of stars or in our well
appointed candlelit dining room.
Retire when the day is done to our four luxurious suites, secluded amongst the
bush. Each suite is beautifully decorated and well appointed with a hospitality
tray and stocked mini bar. The en-suite bathrooms have large oval baths and
outdoor showers. All have beds with percale linen and all rooms are air
conditioned.
Activities
Kruger National Park
A must see, largest big five park in South Africa. Please ask reception for the
best drives and scenic routes to enjoy the Kruger Park to its fullest. We can
arrange a full packed breakfast that can be cooked on a gas grill, hired from
one of the picnic site +/- R15.00. They are known as skottels and are used
extensively by South Africans. This is truly a memorable experience. One can
also hire a guide to cook you breakfast and give you interesting information
regarding the flora and fauna in the park.
The Blyde River Canyon (meaning River of Joy)
This route takes one on a breathtaking journey through the mountains. Blyde
River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world. On route one can stop at
well know view points such as: Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's
Window & various waterfalls. There is an entrance fee at the Potholes.
Blyde River Dam
Take a boat trip on the dam in a completely unspoiled most beautiful area. See
the Tufa Falls and spot varies animals on the 1 1/2hour trip. Trips at 9am, 11am
and 3pm. Ask the lodge to book for you.
Panorama Route (on the R532.) One can visit the following:
Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window. Visit these and various
wonderful waterfalls such as The Bridal Veil Falls, the Lone Creek Waterfall and
Horseshoe Falls, they can all be reached from the scenic forest track along the
south bank of the Sabie River..
Pilgrims Rest
Old gold rush village, visit the Robbers Grave, Pilgrim's Rest is situated on
the magnificent Panorama Route on the eastern Escarpment region of the
Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The entire town of Pilgrim's rest has been
declared a national monument. Here, visitors can relive the days of the old
Transvaal gold rush. Shop for souvenirs, visit the Robbers Grave and see panning
for gold.
Sabie Valley Coffee
Lunch and see how coffee is produced. Tours at 11am on Wednesdays, or by
appointment. Also a shop where one can buy coffee and coffee related products
and gifts.
Meet Jessica the Hippo
Drive towards Hoedspruit and on the left take the turning to Essex Road, the
sign for Jessica is also at this turning.
Bombyx Silk Farm
Excellent place for lunch. Silk Tours (free). Only the second silk farm in South
Africa. Gives one an understanding as to how the silk is used.
Ann's Cotton Club Café - Bistro Style eatery
Situated on the Bombyx Silk Farm. Great Light lunches, Coffee's and Tea's. Nice
shady garden in which to dine and relax.
