Haenertsburg - Magoebaskloof - 'The Mountain'; however you know this varied and scenic part of South Africa, Sequoia Gardens is not only an excellent home base from which to explore the area, it is also one of its great attractions. Spread out in the 6ha of beautiful gardens of Sequoia are three unique places to stay:

'The House that Jack Built' is a stone cottage right on a dam in a mountain stream. Finished with Sequoia panelling (American Redwood, the world's tallest tree, harvested on the farm) it is a warm, unique and inviting spot, one of the most romantic you will find. Several configurations are possible; the main sleeping space is the open loft up the comfortable ladder (king size or 2x¾ beds), but a double bed can be fitted in the downstairs inglenook for those who do not want to climb the ladder.

The perfect getaway for two people, it can accommodate 4 (or even more by arrangement, loft not suitable for young children).

'Croft Cottage' is an old stone farm building expanded and modernised. It consists of a single room with main sleeping area downstairs and a sleeping loft up a comfortable ladder. The loft area is not safe for young children.

• Sleeping loft: 1x queen size or 2x single beds
• TOTAL: 2 or 4 people

'The Plett' is a caravan-home; the original family accommodation on Sequoia, now the guest suite. There is a rather tiny but comfortable bathroom (shower) A second roof and pergola provide additional shade and outdoor living space.

• Bedroom: 1x double bed
• Convertible caravan style dinette: 1x double bed
• Bunk room: 2x small children, bunk style, own sleeping bags
• Living area: built in seating suitable as two single beds, own sleeping bags
• TOTAL: 2-6 people.
