"Jewel of the Free State" , this makes Fouriesburg the ideal base from which to
explore the Eastern Free State.
The surrounding natural beauty, particularly the sandstone formations on the
road from Fouriesburg to Clarens and the Golden Gate National Park is said to be
the most spectacular in South Africa.
Sandstone Chameleon Guest House was built in 1902 and has since been restored
into a luxurious and comfortable guest house with thick sandstone walls and
Oregon Pine floors. Generous home-style breakfasts are served in the dining room
or on the sunny verandah. A huge log fire in the lounge welcomes guests from the
winter cold and occasional snow.
We have 6 charmingly decorated en-suite rooms, all with bath and shower,
under-floor heating, electronic safe, fridge, mini bar, satellite TV, tea,
coffee and our excellent home made rusks to be enjoyed on your private patio. We
offer a laundry service, secure undercover parking, Internet access and
convenient private entrance to each room. Major Credit cards are accepted.
Guests are welcome to use the braai facility or, if preferred, make use of our
top quality braai packs and side dishes.
Guests are welcome to smoke on the verandahs and in the "braai" area.
The tranquil village ambience combined with scenic views and a mild climate
makes Fouriesburg the ideal weekend getaway for city dwellers from Johannesburg
, Bloemfontein and Durban. These cities are all approximately 300km from
Fouriesburg or a comfortable 3 to 4 hours drive away.
