Set in the heart of the Sabi Sabi bushveld, overlooking a river plain and waterhole where animals regularly come to drink, Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge has become an all-suite, exclusive lodge offering 25 suites (50 beds) designed and furnished in a contemporary, yet ethnic, style. A sense of space and light pervades each suite, while high thatch and discreet air-conditioning provides a cool escape during the warmer months. External walls, the colour and texture of wet elephant hide, and the artistic interior and exterior use of indigenous slate floors, bathroom walls and outside patios reflects an amber, gray and ochre palette, ensuring that Bush Lodge is unobtrusive and blends perfectly with the surrounding bushveld.
No expense has been spared when it comes to the appointments inside the new suites. The bathroom, with its cavernous bath and interior and exterior showers, offer open views to the river plains beyond. Glass bottles containing high quality cosmetics, a novel leather sewing kit and a crystal decanter of sherry are just some of the special touches designed to delight the senses and ensure a memorable stay.
When guests can be persuaded to leave the luxury of their suites with their comfortable wooden chairs offering private views of the waterhole, they can venture outside the Lodge to experience big game country. Under the guidance of Sabi Sabi's qualified game rangers and renowned Shangaan trackers, guests can take to the bush on early morning and evening night safaris in open Landrovers, which are in constant radio contact. Exceptional game viewing has always been a trademark of Sabi Sabi's and the Bush Lodge safaris are no exception.
More intrepid travellers, seeking an intimate encounter with the African
wilderness, will not be disappointed. Each day, armed rangers offer walking trails during which visitors can learn about ecology, habitat management and the medicinal uses of plants. Those who have come to work and play, however, can be accommodated in the comfort of Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge's conference centre. It accommodates 90 delegates cinema style, 60 delegates classroom style and boasts a full range of equipment including:
