In April 1996 the dream of presenting something uniquely South African to the
public became a reality. It was time to upgrade the Dros in Stellenbosch when
the owner realized that more and more people from all over the country, as well
as foreigners frequented it.
The décor had to fit in with the well- known Cape Wine Route, which leads to the
strong wine cellar characteristics of the Dros restaurant. Food of outstanding
quality and good service were to be combined in order to meet with the
historically rich past and tradition of the Dros.
An informal seating has proven very popular with all customers. The arches and
beams in the restaurant area add to the welcoming atmosphere.The Dros is
equipped with 10 000 wine bottles, stacked neatly in niches of the interior
walls to enhance the "wine cellar" effect.
Our food is of outstanding quality, not mentioning the portion sizes! Also, our
prices are reasonable enough to enjoy a good, wholesome meal without hurting
your pocket!
