Ngiri Safaris is owned and run by Andrew & Sue who are both keen
conservationists and adventurers. They have combined their love for the bush and
nature into one amazing destination.
Ngiri Safaris is situated on 1000 ha of pristine bushveld stocked with 16
species of game. It will soon become part of the newly established Dinokeng Big
Five Game Reserve, and absolutely no hunting is done on the Reserve. As a result
the animals are very tame and game viewing can be done on foot, quad bike,
mountain bike, microlight, or in a comfortable game viewing vehicle.
Ngiri Safaris hosts beautiful luxury accommodation and a wide range of adventure
activities for the more adventurous.
ACCOMMODATION: Chalets
Ngiri Safaris offers 4-star accommodation in luxury thatched chalets and wooden
cabins. Our colonial style blends perfectly with the surrounding bushveld, and
we've made every effort to remain eco-friendly. We have 3 chalets that each
sleeps up to 4 people, and 2 wooden cabins that each sleep 2 people.
Each of our 3 thatch roofed chalets has been built to provide total privacy, and
boasts:
- open plan bedroom with comfortable lounge area
- double bed with stylish linen
- a double bunk in the open plan lounge area
- stylish bathroom with shower
- fully equipped kitchenette
- outside patio with braai facilities
- unspoiled views of the bushveld
- fan
- wood-fired geysers that do not use any electricity
ACCOMMODATION: Wooden Cabins
Our luxury wooden cabins consist of:
- open plan bedroom
- single beds with stylish linen (for couples beds are pushed together to
make up a queen)
- lovely bathroom with shower
- outside patio with fully equipped kitchenette and braai facilities

- wood-fired geysers that do not use any electricity
- unspoiled views of the bushveld
GAME VIEWING
View our numerous species of game from the comfort of our game viewing vehicle,
on a quad bike, on foot, or on your mountain bike. We have 2 custom converted
Land Rovers, each of which can take 10 passengers. Some of the species found on
our reserve:

BOAT SAFARIS
Feel the thrill of drifting right up to crocodiles, hippos, and amazing birdlife
in a rubber duck! Although we have a fast 6 meter rubber duck, we're careful and
respectful when on the safari due to the number of wild animals in the area.
These include water animals such as hippo, crocodile, fish and of course an
amazing variety of birdlife. The Rust de Winter Dam is situated within a Game
Reserve so most of the sightings will take place along the shores. So pack your
cooler box and snacks, and enjoy a safari sundowner experience like no other!
QUAD BIKE GAME VIEWING
Quad bike game drives are done in the game reserve and all game viewing
excursions are done with a guide. Our quad bikes are fully automatic so
virtually everyone is capable of operating them. All rides are slow and relaxed
so as not to disturb the game. Guests are welcome to bring their own quad bikes.
We guarantee you wonderful memories of an unforgettable game viewing experience!
BIRD WATCHING
Our Game Reserve, and indeed the entire Dinokeng area, is a birdwatcher's
paradise. With over 400 species of birds you're certain to "tick off" a large
portion of your South African Birding List! Whether you're a serious Twitcher or
just a keen birder, a slow walk through the Reserve promises to be extremely
rewarding.
FISHING
We're lucky to have the beautiful Boekenhoutspruit flowing through the Game
Reserve that is stocked with Black Bass, Barbel, Carper and other freshwater
fish. We can also supply rods, reels and artificial bait if needed. Please note
that we only allow catch and release fishing in our Reserve! For those that are
serious about fishing we suggest the Rust de Winter Dam which is a short 30min
drive from our lodge.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Riding through 1000 ha of unspoiled bushveld, sighting game, all within an
hour's drive of Johannesburg, is the most fun you can have, well, on your
mountain bike! You can choose to follow our game viewing quad bike track and
roads. There are no fixed or marked mountain bike-specific trails. The trails
are also perfect for families and children, and of course your ride can be as
long as you want it to be. You're welcome to bring their own bikes, and guided
trips can be arranged with a local operator. Each chalet and cabin has a tap and
hosepipe for cleaning yourself and your bike after your ride.
HIKING TRAILS
Walking through unspoiled bushveld within a well-stocked Game Reserve, all
within an hour's drive of Johannesburg, is the most fun you can have, well, on
your feet! As with the mountain bikers, you can choose to follow our game
viewing quad bike track, walk the network of dirt roads crossing our 1000 ha
reserve. The trails are also perfect for families and children, and your walk
can be as long as you want it to be.
CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING
Ngiri Safaris is proud to be the only clay pigeon shooting destination in the
Dinokeng area. Despite being situated within a Game Reserve, we take every
precaution to minimise noise and disturbance of wildlife. This activity is ideal
for those who want to feel the thrill of shooting, but don't want to harm any
animals. No previous experience is necessary and you'll be under professional
guidance at all times. We supply the shotgun, ammunition, earmuffs and the clay
discs, and ensure all National Firearm Safety Requirements are adhered to. The
rest is easy: a machine launches the clay discs into the air, and you try to
shoot them. This is a seriously fun activity where you can compete against each
other or try to beat your own score. Clay pigeon shooting is visual, exciting
and always good for a few laughs!
SCUBA DIVING
Probably one of the most intriguing activities at Ngiri Safaris is our scuba
Diver Training Center, right in the heart of the bushveld. We guarantee there's
nowhere in the country where you can catch glimpses of game AND practice your
buoyancy control at the same time! Ngiri Safaris Diver Training Center is open
to all dive schools and diving instructors from any training agency, including
PADI and NAUI.
