Montanha Lodge is positioned atop the tall dunes (approx 200m from the beach)
which line the turquoise patterned waters of the warm Indian Ocean in the trendy
Mozambique resort destination of Inhambane,
Mozambique.
The district boasts one of the largest plantations of palm trees worldwide and
this vegetation combined with the endless pristine beaches and sparkling clear
ocean, give this stretch of the peninsula a taste of that balmy island fever.
Our accommodation comprises comfortable, self-catering 2-4 sleeper casitas (1
en-suite bedroom), 4-6 sleeper chalets (2 bedrooms), 6-8 sleeper chalets (3
bedrooms) and 8-10 sleeper chalets (4 bedrooms). The 2-4 sleeper casitas comprise a
bedroom, bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen and a living area which
doubles up as a second bedroom. The chalets are double-storey log cabins which
have three bedrooms (4 bedrooms in the 8-10 sleepers), 2 bathrooms with a
shower, 2 lounges, fully-equipped kitchen (with fridge, freezer, gas stove) and
carport. Both the casitas and chalets have mosquito nets, linen, decks and braai
areas.
Restaurant and bar facilities are nestled in the valley of the dunes amongst a
palm tree plantation. The swimming pool is currently under construction and is
expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
Local vendors visit the lodge daily with a supply of produce and curios - these
range from fresh fruits of the sea (prawns, crayfish, fish, langoustine,
calamari) as well as freshly baked bread and rolls and seasonal fruits and
vegetables, sarongs and artwork. We do advise visitors to help protect the ocean
and not to purchase the shells.
The units are serviced daily by a local, friendly Mozambique employee and have
drinkable borehole water, gas and electricity. A security guard patrols the
lodge in the evenings and a management couple are on site to welcome you and
assist with any requirements.
Montanha Lodge is situated on a sandy road (the lighthouse road) - guests are
advised to deflate their tyres to 1 bar at the beginning of the road and we
recommend 4x4 vehicles (preferably) or 2x4 vehicles with diff lock. Normal
passenger vehicles with a low ground clearance will get stuck!
