This historical old house was built in app. 1912 by the famous Boere Generaal, Gen. Koos de la Rey. His son lived here until his death at the age of 47. The house was then sold out of the family. Melville B&B was established by Jan and Coral Fourie approximately 1990, to be the first B&B in town. The three bedroom B&B with shared bathroom facilities was then bought by Gert and Bettie Dry in 1997 and been renovated into a luxurious 10 en-suite bedroom Guest House establishment in 2006. They proudly manage this characterful old property for 17 years with so much love, care and Afrikaans hospitality, that many a guest return to experience the warmth and character of this charming Guest House. They retired in 2014 at the age of 75, passing the stick to their son and daughter-in-law, Jannie and Juanita Dry to carry on the spirit as a family business.

At Melville Guest House we offer 10, taste fully interior, en-suite rooms, all with shower and bath (some only shower). All the rooms have DSTV, Television, fans, heaters, fridge, microwave and coffee/tea making facilities. Two of the guest rooms are equipped with self-catering kitchenette. We also have a family unit with a separate bedroom, kitchen and lounge available. In our cozy dining room we will still the hunger with our delicious and mouthwatering breakfast and dinner, while the birds keep the guest company.

Secure parking, braai facilities, lovely relaxing patios, beautiful gardens flocked with birds and a fresh taste of arts & craft are some of the highlights that make our establishment as definite choice. Services like supper, lunch packs, laundry and Wi-Fi are available on request.

There are various tourist attractions and landmarks situated near the Guest House which include: Lichtenburg Motor Racetrack, the Barberspan Bird Sanctuary, Wondergat, the Agriculture Museum, the British Soldier Cemetery, the Statue of Genl. Koos de la Rey and his horse and the Bakerville Diamond Diggings.

We are situated on the N14 - flower route - also en-route to Namibia via Botswana and well centered for business people in the center part of the North West Province. We are next door to several restaurants and walking distance from the Town Centre and a mall that make our establishment a very comfortable stopover for travelers and business people.
