Marrob Lodge is situated in the quiet village of Kwambonambi, near to
Richards Bay Here you
can enjoy the tranquil ambience of country living, yet be within minutes of the
business centres of Richards Bay and Empangeni in Zululand.
We have 5 double rooms and one family suite, which sleeps four and has an en
suite bathroom. There is also a conference and training venue which can hold up
to 40 people with 18 of them sleeping over. We offer bed & breakfast, and bed
only rates and also offer a home-cooked meal at a reasonable rate for those who
require supper. Each room is en suite with a TV, coffee and tea facilities,
remote controlled ceiling fans and 2-pin and 3-pin plugs for cellphones and
hairdryers. We also have a Wireless Internet Hotspot, which enables our guests
to access the Internet at various locations around the property while away from
home.
The outdoor entertainment area consists of a rock pool, bar and lapa, in which
there are braai facilities and a pizza oven. Indoors, there is a formal lounge
and dining room and a quiet library-lounge area in which our guests can just
relax or catch up on the day's reports. Smoking is permitted in the outdoor
entertainment areas only.
The lodge also abuts onto the Kwambonambi Club's golf course, which facilities
are available to our guests. There is secure parking within a walled property,
with a remote controlled gate.
The lodge is situated close to all the tourist attractions in Zululand:
Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, St. Lucia Wetlands, Shakaland, Dumuzulu Village,
Tuzi Gazi Waterfront and the North Coast beaches. All of these attractions are
within an hour's drive from the Lodge. Both Marilynne and Rob Farren-Handford
can advise on things to do in the area as well.
The nearest restaurant is at the Kwambonambi Club, which is a 200m walk from the
lodge. Other than the club, and the fact that we offer a home cooked meal at a
reasonable rate, Richards Bay and Empangeni are just 20 minutes away, should our
guests wish to savour the more exotic types of cuisine in the evening.
