Lite House Lodge is located close to the beach and lighthouse at Praia da
Barra - near Inhambane, the capital of the Inhambane province, and 500km north
of Maputo.
The beautiful beach, with the calm turquoise bay bordered by the Inhambane
estuary is ideal for endless walks, swimming, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving
and water sport. The extensive coral reefs with dazzling marine life end right
on the beach under the lighthouse with rock pools ideal for kids to snorkel and
explore. The water in the estuary is calm with all kind of interesting marine
creatures, starfish, pansies, the elusive seahorses and the seldom seen dugong.
Lite House Lodge consist of three self-catering houses: Lite House, Lite Casa,
Lite Casita and is ideal for family holidays. Lite House Lodge is nestled in the
beautiful indigenous dune forest with lots of birds around you, a sea view and a
short walk away from the beach and rock pools. Restaurants, beach bars and
diving centres are in close proximity. The houses are designed with natural
Mozambique building materials, indigenous hardwood, hand-made clay bricks and
coconut palm leaves which blends in with nature. The furniture and décor is the
same style, which creates an elegant earthy peacefulness, the perfect atmosphere
for a relaxing and unforgettable holiday.
Lite Casa - 3 Bedroom can sleep maximum of 8
Lite Casa is a beautiful home nestled in the dune forest with a lovely veranda,
small bar with bar fridge. The lounge opens onto the veranda and has comfortable
homely furniture to relax in while keeping the chefs for the evening company as
they cook in the small but well-designed and equipped kitchen. The braai area
has a lovely wooden deck to have late brunches on or cosy relaxation around the
braai. Lite Casa has three bedrooms – the first bedroom has a double bed and
bunk bed and is ideal for a young family with an en-suite (shower, basin &
toilet) with an outside door so that visiting guests can also use it without
entering the bedroom. There is a bunk bed in the small bedroom. The third
bedroom has a double bed with an en-suite (shower, basin & toilet) and a veranda
to relax on. There is ample parking space - some under a shade net, a fish
cleaning area and a lovely outside shower in the dune forest.
Lite Casita - 2 Bedroom can sleep maximum of 5
Lite Casita is a beautiful compact house - next to the Casa. The lounge and
well-equipped kitchen open on to the big veranda where there is plenty of space
to entertain. This house has two bedrooms; the first bedroom can be a double or
two single beds with an en-suite (shower, basin & toilet) and a small deck to
walk out into the lounge. The second bedroom has a double bed and small
children's bed with an en-suite (shower, basin & toilet) and has a lovely
private veranda where you can relax away from the world. The outside shower is
right next to the veranda to cool down under.
Lite House - 5 Bedroom can sleep maximum of 14 (8 adults and kids)
Lite House is a large spacious house with lots of entertainment areas. The
beautiful wooden deck veranda looks out onto the lighthouse and sea, there is a
large table with comfortable chairs and a bar counter and fridge. The lounge and
kitchen is a large spacious room with beautiful wooden tops and furniture, all
decorated with an earthy, local, holiday feeling. This is a five-bedroom house -
two bedrooms on the outside leading onto the veranda and three bedrooms inside
the house. The first bedroom on the veranda has a double bed in with an en-suite
(shower, basin and toilet). The second bedroom on the veranda is a mirror
bedroom of the first with an added bunk bed. Inside is the loft bedroom up the
ladder in the lounge with two single beds ideal for teenagers. The front bedroom
has a double bed with children’s bed and a door leading outside onto the deck.
The last bedroom has a double bed and children’s bed in with a small en-suite
(toilet and basin). The house shares a full bathroom. The braai area is spacious
with a double braai to go big on seafood or meat. Parking is close to the house
with a lovely outside shower to cool off or wash the sea and sand off.

your own bath and beach towels.
The Lite Casa and Lite Casita have ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and Lite
House has standing fans in all the bedrooms.
There is a digital safe and a lockable cupboard in every bedroom.
All the kitchens are well equipped with fridge/freezer, electric stove and oven,
kettle, microwave, sandwich toaster, pots and pans, serving dishes, plates,
cutlery, glasses and cups.
Large comfortable entertainment areas
No smoking is permitted inside.
Mozambique is a malaria area so please take pre-caution. Mosquito nets are
supplied for all the beds, we suggest lowering the nets over the beds before
sunset, use mosquito room spray and lotion. Please note that no candles or
mosquito coils are permitted at Lite House Lodge to lower the risk of fire.
Getting there:
Inhambane town is only 45minutes / 27km drive away from the lodge. Roads are
tarred up to Tofu turnout 7km away from Praia da Barra, for the last 3 km to
Lite House Lodge you need a 4x4 for the sandy dune road or the sandy beach road.
Visit Inhambane town for:
Make sure to buy fresh warm bread here called - Poa, in the bakeries - Padaria,
visit the fascinating vibrant local market for fresh fruit and vegetables, fish
or curios, and buy groceries from the local over-the-counter-shops or the
Chinese supermarket. Relax with a 2M Beer in one of the local taverns or with a
cocktail in the new hotel. Take a dhow trip to the town across the estuary,
Maxixe for lunch or to Pansy island, but be aware that these trips might take
most of the day so take a picnic basket and good company with you and have fun
on the dhow.
