The guest house,George & Lady Marion Leuchars,
is one of the oldest homes in the town - now beautifully restored & tastefully
decorated. Facilities include a fully licensed bar & restaurant, a small
conference / functions room, pool & braai deck., while our en-suite bed rooms
all have satellite tv, which is also a feature of our comfortable lounge. All
aspects, including the spacious & restful gardens, are designed you make your
stay with us, a pleasant experience.
We are situated in Greytown, which lies in the heart of Umvoti County in the KZN
Midlands & we are on the Battlefields Route. We are only 74km from
Pietermaritzburg & 140km from Durban - accessible from the N3 via the R74
(Colenso & the Mooi River) of R74 (Pietermaritzburg & Stanger - N2).
Greytown was established in 1854 & named after a former British Governor, Sir
George Grey. There are several other places of historical interest in the area,
such as the birthplace of Gen. Louis Botha, remains of old fort embankments &
early & late Victorian buildings - the Greytown Museum & Town Hall, both
enjoying National Monument status. There is also a large German community in the
district, & another two National Monuments can be seen at the hub of the German
Culture - at Hermannsburg.
