something for everyone. One can swing through the trees of the Tsitikama Forest,
abseil down the cliffs of The Heads, scuba-dive the wreck of the Paquita or spot
the mysterious seahorse, canoe up the Knysna river, sail a catamaran across the
Lagoon and through The Heads to watch Whales and Dolphins, horse-ride around
nearby lakes and beaches, visit the Garden Route Game Reserve for a safari or
play a round or two of golf at a choice of nearby world-class golf courses.
Nearest town:
"Beauty and mystery" is what comes to mind when describing Knysna. The town
nestles between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, with
the world-renowned forests encircling it like a protective mantle. The
oyster-rich estuary is protected from the sea by the sandstone sentinels know as
"The Heads". The town is also famous for its oysters - the festival in July is
well worth a visit.
The climate is moderate with summer daytime temperatures averaging 26 degrees
and 20 degrees in winter. The area has a reputation for having "four seasons in
one day".
