Hugged in the folds of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage site, a mere 1 ½
hour drive from Johannesberg, lies the tranquil little guest farm Knopberg.
Knopberg offers guests the best of both worlds and provides a luxurious
8-sleeper guest house, Shepherd's Tree on a bed and breakfast-basis and a
comfortable 6-sleeper, Jacket Plum. Both units are ideal for small
conferences and families. Visitors are entertained with unique views of the Vaal
River Valley and beautiful sunsets. The area also boasts a variety of indigenous
trees and local birds.
Situated 1 km from Knopberg is the Old Imperial Inn hotel, where all breakfasts
will be served. This hotel is a historical building which dates back to 1889
when the gold miners came to the Vredefort Dome in search of gold. Restored to
its 1889 flare, the Imperial Inn opened a Bistro under the shepherd trees. We
sell gourmet food made with organic ingredients indigenous to the Dome. The
Zündapp Saloon, complete with a zündapp bike in front, sell beers exclusively
brewed in the Dome area and offers a big screen TV for rugby games to all the
visiting guests in and around Venterskroon.
With the buzzing arty town of Parys only 16km and the town of Potchefstroom
embedded in its history only 29km to either side, Knopberg and the Imperial Inn
- hotel invites guests to come and wind down from their busy lives.. The Dome -
area offers limited cell phone reception and vehicles with a higher ground
clearance is best suitable for the gravel road of Venterskroon and your bakkie
or SUV will now come in handy.
Sitting under the shepherd trees, while the sun sets with a sky blue-pink in the
south, the cry of the fish eagle will bring your heart home.

The family unit has 2 twin rooms that share a bathroom with a bath. It as its
own entrance and boma to braai. Direct access to the kitchen and main living
area of the house, with the fireplace and DsTV. Linen, towels and wood are
provided. Option of having single beds or queen beds.
Shepherd's Tree B&B - Sage Wood suite
Twin room with private access from the patio and boma. En suite bathroom with a
shower. All linen, towels and wood are provided. Option of having single beds or
a queen bed. Access to the main kitchen and living room with fireplace and DsTV.

Another twin room with private access from the patio and boma. En suite bathroom

Jacket Plum backpacker unit
The Jacket Plum is the old farmhouse that was authentically converted into a
6-sleeper with 3 twin rooms, two bathrooms - one with a shower and one with a
bath. It hosts a dollhouse-like kitchen and a cozy small lounge area with a
fireplace for those cold winter nights. On the stoep is a bench perfect for
afternoon coffee. A boma for braai. All linen, towels and wood are supplied.
