KLIPKUILE
Bush Lodge (Self Catering) Accommodation
in Sterkrivier, Waterberg,
Limpopo, South Africa
KlipKuile - "Rock Pools"
Klipkuile translates as 'Rock Pools' and refers to the unique natural rock pools
in the Klein Sterkrivier ('Little Strong River’) which is the heart of the
Klipkuile lodge. Being just over 2 hours drive from Pretoria, Klipkuile is ideal
for weekend Bushveld getaways for small groups or the whole family.
Accommodation comprises of one camp for ideally 8 to 18 people
Days are based around the clear water pools with swimming, tubing, reclining and
picnicking to your hearts content. Klipkuile is situated in 600 Ha of pristine
Waterberg Bushveld, with walking and driving trails and 5km of River to explore.
Naturally occurring game like Kudu, Ribbok, Bushbuck, Warthog and endless small
species will be encountered. Bird life is abundant, while tree, rock and insect
enthusiasts will be in for a treat. Kids will hardly hang around for board
games, as the water and the bush is any child's dream come true.
The lodge is set on the edge of a valley with rock pools in the river right
below. Opposite the valley the famous Sterkrivier Castle is to this day
'growing' out of the rock. The lodge consists of a large communal Lapa and two
Rondavels (Chalets). The lodge is ideal for one or two families or small groups
who would spend most of their time socializing in the Lapa or splashing in the
natural rock pools.
Klipkuile Lodge is a down to earth rustic experience. Luxuries like good coffee
and fantastic steak can be achieved in the good old fashioned way (that is
without electricity) Up to 18 people can be accommodated, and most groups will
find themselves abandoning the chalets to create "Christmas-beds" under the
thatched roof of the Lapa. Cooking is done over the open fire and is usually a
team affair. Lighting is provided by gas and paraffin lamps.
This is a place to forget the world and lose yourself for endless hours with
friends and family, within the tranquillity of the Bushveld.
