The Wilderness areas, farms, forests, riverine corridors and scenic routes abound.

The front garden still has remnants of the hedge of Wild Almond planted by Van Riebeeck during his Governership in order to define the boundary of the Cape Colony. Later during the Anglo Boer War the British had their horses stabled where the houses stand today in a truly idyllic setting. Well appointed bedrooms all enjoy beautiful views of the gardens or valley and mountains.

Cape Town has a Mediterranean type climate with long summers. However, despite being a winter rainfall area, there are also many lovely warm intervals in between the rainy days.

The boundary hedges are home to a variety of bird species and the secretive Burchell's Coucal can often be heard skulking in the abundant undergrowth, its call reminiscent if a bubbling brook. Locals refer to it as the Rain Bird and believe that its call predicts damp weather.
Cape White Eyes and Sun Birds festoon the Cape Fuchsia trees as they greedily drink the sweet nectar from the tubular flowers or munch away at the dark berries.

Secret pathways lead down and around the gardens opening up new vistas and surprises. Overhead the territorial and usually silent Black Eagle pairs, who live on the craggy rocks of Table Mountain, circle the sky as they search for prey.

A two minute walk from the houses takes one to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the slopes of Table Mountain. A 2 hour walk from the house would take one to the summit of the mountain. Lovers of nature would be hard pressed to find a better place from which to explore the beauty of South Africa's natural flora.

The nearest beach is the picturesque fishing village of Hout Bay which is a 15 minute drive away. Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront, and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, are also only a 15 minute drive. The variety of cultivars now being grown in the Constantia Valley will not disappoint the most serious of quaffers. Once more available, is the Vin de Constance served by Louis XIV at the Palace of Versailles and also enjoyed by Napoleon whilst in exile on the Island of St Helena. Golf courses, tennis, bowls and fitness clubs are nearby. Not only has Constantia always been famous for its wines, there are also a number of excellent eateries within a short drive of Klein Bosheuwel.
